Competition Corner: MORE April 2020 Showdowns, Rally Races, Car Shows, and Jamborees
Please note that much of the following information may be out of date due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Amid the rapidly changing news, it is best to confirm event details with organizers if you have plans to attend.
Didn’t believe me the first time around?? April 2020 is THE month for auto events. We’re talkin’ ARCA showdowns, DirtFish rally racing, off-road and overlanding excitement, Carlisle classic car mania, and so much more. If you still can’t find anything that peaks your interest, you might need to get that pulse checked.
Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200

Nothing says “spring is here” quite like stock car racing and—let’s face it—sometimes, NASCAR just isn’t quite enough to satisfy your needs! Like many grassroots auto events, the ARCA Menards Series continues to gain popularity as time rolls on.
Whether you’re already in love with this series or simply want to see more of this all-American style of racing, hitting the Salem Raceway in Indiana April 18-19 is something you absolutely need to do! Click here for more information.
Spring Carlisle

All winter long, folks in the Northeast have awaited the return of Carlisle events. And April 22-26, Spring Carlisle kicks off the season with a massive car show, swap meet, and car corral at the Carlisle Fairgrounds.
If you’ve always wanted to make it to one of these shows but aren’t really sure it’s for you, this is the one to go to. While the make-specific events are fantastic, Spring Carlisle is one of the largest automotive flea markets in the world… which already tells you it isn’t worth missing!
Goodguys North Carolina Nationals

Don’t worry: if you’re not in the Northeast, you’re not going to miss out too much, because Goodguys has you covered! At the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, Goodguys North Carolina Nationals are going down April 24-26. You’ll get to take in the spectacular nature of a massive classic car show, autocross, demolition derby, and more. You’ve always wanted to go see the Goodguys, so why not start here?
Holley LS Fest West
Are you obsessed with LS engines?? The legendary “best bang for your buck” platform has massive clout in the automotive industry. In fact, the fan following that this engine has generated over the past decade or so is absolutely astounding.
So, if you’re one of the folks who loves all-things-LS and just can’t get enough— the Holley LS Fest West is where you need to be! I don’t even know where to start with everything that’s been packed into this two-day event running April 24-26. Just know that you LS nuts need to be at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway that weekend! Click here for more details.
Smoky Mountain Overland Rally (SMOR)
Overlanding is probably one of the coolest things you can do in a vehicle. Sure, climbing rocks or going fast gets the blood pumping. But going way off grid and relying on nothing but four wheels and what’s between your ears brings the kind of gratification that lasts longer than a few hours.
If you’re itching to learn more, push yourself a little further, or simply spend some time with this welcoming community, check out the Smoky Mountain Overland Rally, running April 24-26. Even if it’s for nothing but a weekend in the beautiful Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, you’re sure to love this event!

DirtFish Olympus Rally
We talk a lot about off-road events here at Competition Corner. Though, many of you are probably wondering when we will give some more shout-outs for rally events. Well, get ready, because the DirtFish Olympus Rally is going down on the ever-eventful weekend of April 25-26.
This 25-mile, wildly-twisted road on the Olympus Peninsula proves to be one of the most exciting tracks in the U.S. time and again. If you’re ready to watch some of the most insane drivers turn the peaceful Washington wilderness into an action-packed oasis, this is where you need to be.
LOORRS: Rounds 3 & 4
Man, I tell you what: April 25-26 has to be the dirtiest, nastiest, fastest weekend in history. If you can’t choose from the Spring Carlisle, Goodguys NCN, DirtFish Olympus Rally, Holley LS Fest, or SMOR, then the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORRS) will only add to the dilemma.
That’s right, now you have to add the possibility of watching trophy trucks shoot it out at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Arizona to your event wish list. You’ve got a lot to think about, but I’m sure you’ll make the right choice.

Jeep Jamboree: 16th Tennessee Mountains
How does unplugging for a weekend to explore the Tennessee wilderness sound? You know we love a good Jeep Jamboree, as these events are truly an awesome way to get out with fellow Jeep enthusiasts and experience some good ol’ four-wheeling.
The 16th Annual Tennessee Mountains Jamboree runs April 29-May 2 and promises three days of trail riding, rock crawling, and off-road bliss. Get more information here.

Trans Am SpeedFest
Who says muscle cars are good for nothing more than drag racing? Trans Am Racing puts these big V8-powered ponies on road courses to battle it out—and they’re no slouches, either!
At the Trans Am SpeedFest April 30-May 3, you can watch Mustangs, Vettes, and more track one another at almost uncomfortably close distances around the one and only Weathertech Raceway Leguna Seca. Come out and see how muscle cars remind us who the real king of the road is.

BITD: VT Construction Silver State 300
Closing out the month of April and kicking off the month of May is the BITD: Silver State 300. This run through the scenic byways of Nevada uses motorcycles, quads, UTVs, trucks, and cars to jam adrenaline through your veins. If you’re a lover of all-things-off-road and enjoy spending some quality time in the glorious Silver State, you can’t afford to miss Best in the Desert! Running April 30-May 2, get more information here.

Remember to check in with us monthly, as we line up the best that Competition Corner has to offer!
