CURT Continues Innovating with These Seven Practical Towing Solutions
Imagining CURT Group’s trophy case, one wonders if the company has enough space to fit more hardware. Is the center-shelf bowing from all the honors it has collected after 27 years of American manufacturing? Or maybe companies like CURT Group – hellbent on innovation – simply toss their trophies in a cardboard box in a defiant protest against complacency?
Already one of the most awarded and fastest growing hitch manufacturers in the world, the CURT brand notched another victory this fall with SEMA’s best exterior accessory award for the new Tri-Ball Universal Coupler Lock. CURT won the same award in 2019 for its BetterWeigh mobile towing scale.
Regardless of where all these awards end up, CURT Group solidified its position as a market innovator first by valuing the opinions of its customers and then by backing it up with a well-funded R&D department. Every product is engineered in Wixom, Michigan, manufactured in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and thoroughly tested before debuting on American roads.
And the hits just keep coming! CURT has a full slate of new products planned for release in 2021. Here are just a handful of the brand’s latest innovations, created to make the next generation of towing more convenient and safer than ever before.
Tri-Ball Universal Coupler Lock
The award-winning Tri-Ball Universal Coupler Lock took top honors from SEMA for its unique approach to trailer security. The tri-ball component allows the lock to fit virtually all standard coupler sizes, including 1-7/8 inch, 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch. Plus, the lock can be used when the trailer is hooked up for towing or when left unattended.
What will make this universal coupler lock a favorite among customers is its built-in breaking points security feature. Disappointed trailer thieves will witness the tri-ball break off at its base, leaving the ball inserted in the coupler to prevent unwarranted trailer hookup. The lock’s vibrant orange color also increases the lock’s visibility to deter potential thieves.
QuickPin No-Latch Trailer Couplers

What if you could couple your trailer without the frustration of hinging the latch? What if your coupler didn’t even need a latch at all?
CURT’s QuickPin tosses traditional coupler latch design out the door. Instead, users secure their trailer to the hitch ball using a single pin. It is as easy as dropping the trailer tongue onto the tow ball, sliding the QuickPin hitch pin into place, and securing it with the included safety pin.
QuickPin functions as a replacement coupler for users’ existing trailer tongue. Pre-drilled holes match the existing bolt pattern on most trailer tongue beams, ensuring an easy installation.
Chevrolet Multi-Flex & GMC MultiPro Tailgate Sensors
New Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra owners have a solution to protect their tailgates from getting damaged by a ball mount or towing accessory installed in the receiver. The new CURT protective tailgate sensor prevents the inner tailgate panel from dropping down when a towing accessory is installed.
Available in standard 2” and 2-1/2” receiver options, and the Multi-Flex and MultiPro sensors require no wire cutting or splicing on the truck. Instead, they utilize a factory-style wiring harness to plug into OEM sockets. The sensors require no additional electronics or batteries to operate.
Additionally, the sensors play well with virtually any ball mount that fits the receiver tube, while also functioning as a hitch cap to protect the receiver when not in use.
Assure Brake Controller
The new Assure Brake Controller is all about convenience. The controller features a 1.5-inch-wide OLED screen that displays simple messages to the driver for straightforward trailer brake setup and operation, including trailer brake gain, sensitivity settings, operational statuses and diagnostic alerts. The screen also pivots and folds out, ensuring a user-friendly view wherever the controller is mounted.

The compact Assure design operates using a power triple-axis, motion-sensing accelerometer for smooth, safe braking. The device also features a pressure-sensitive manual override button. This allows users to apply the right amount of braking to easily correct trailer sway or to reduce speed.
Anti-Rattle Hitch Clamp

Sometimes the most useful products come in small packages. CURT’s anti-rattle hitch clamp for 2-inch receivers is simple, yet effective. It provides quieter towing by securing the hitch connection.
Install is easy, featuring a no-tool clamp-style lever. The tightener simply installs over the shank and hitch receiver tube opening, tightening down onto the connection to eliminate rattling and vibrating. Better yet, adjustments are just as easy.
The clamp—made of corrosion-resistant steel and aluminum—is also compatible with solid shanks and hollow shanks.
Rambler Steel Tow Bar
RV owners will rejoice the CURT Rambler Tow Bar thanks to its light weight (40 pounds), ease of operation, and versatility. The Rambler, offering a max tow capacity of 7,500 pounds, can function as a tow bar for cars, Jeeps or trucks — it’s as simple as installing the vehicle-specific base plates on the front of the tow vehicle.
Hook up is easy with non-binding latches, auto-locking mechanisms, active slide-resistant arms, and included safety cables. When installing, the slide-resistant arms ensure they can’t slide out haphazardly, threatening damage to the car or bumper. The latches quickly hook up to the base plate with no manual locking required.
Rambler also provides three stowing positions; the arms fold to the right, left, or apart. This allows users to adapt the design to their specific RV without obstruction.
PowerForce Electric Trailer Jack
Coming in the first quarter of 2021 is CURT’s new PowerForce Electric Trailer Jack. This product promises to be another fan-favorite, thanks to its practicality and ease of use.
Power jacks are great, but not when they drain the RV battery. That’s why CURT engineered this product with a 2-way to 7-way RV blade powering system, providing the option to hook the jack directly to the tow vehicle. The three integrated LEDs offer lighting without sucking too much power.
The jack supports up to 3,500 pounds and 18 inches of vertical travel to accommodate various ball heights. The integrated hanger bracket is another nice feature that keeps safety chains out of the way when not in use.
