Renegade? You’ve Got It Made With New J.W. Speaker LED Headlights

The current Jeep® Renegade platform (2014-present) is the first vehicle to bear the Jeep moniker that was completely built and designed by current parent company Fiat Chrysler. There were plenty of skeptics out there, fearful that the Italian automaker might flub it’s first new Jeep offering in advance of the next-generation Wrangler. Since the Renegade launch, some 500,000 units have been sold globally, with over half of those on American Soil. So it makes perfect sense that USA based J.W. Speaker, manufacturer of the gold-standard EVO J replacement Jeep Wrangler headlights, would introduce LED headlights for the Renegade.

Evolution 2R Renegade LED Headlights

The 8700 Evolution 2R are the first-ever LED headlights for the the Jeep Renegade. Like the Wrangler offerings from J.W. Speaker, the 2Rs have bright white LEDs to light up your drive. There are separate projector optics for low beam and high beam operation. The distinctive half-halo found on the Wrangler versions is also carried over to the 2R.

Dual Burn

J.W. Speaker participates in many trade shows and off-road events. At this writing they are helping to lead a pack of 100 Jeeps from Las Vegas, Nevada to Moab, Utah as a part of the JP Dirt N’ Drive. This 400+ mile trip over paved and dirt roads kicks off the Annual Easter Jeep Safari a few days early for it’s lucky participants. At events like this, J.W. Speaker’s representatives regularly interact with their current and potential customers.  Without question, the most asked for feature from those folks was the ability to use 100% of the headlight’s optics for high beam. On all previous Jeep headlights from J.W. Speaker, high and low beam optics fired separately.  Dual Burn™ technology was introduced last year in the J2 series Wrangler headlights.

Dual Burn answers that request. Now when high beams are activated, both projectors fire.  The technology gives the driver the widespread visibility they need along with an extra “punch” of light downroad, on demand.

Specifications

8700 Evolution 2R are 7″ round headlights, available as a pair in distinct left and right configuration. Part number 0553623 features a black bezel, which will blend in with the black housing of the renegade “eye socket.” Part number 0554263 maintains the black housing but with a chrome bezel. Many of the Renegades in the “Limited” trim level have chrome appointments around the grille area, making this a nice choice.
