Competition Corner: February 2024 Auto Events

As we roll into February 2024, everyone is wondering where the time’s going. While we can’t make sense of the speeding calendar, we can help you track down some hot auto events sure to keep you entertained. Buckle up, and we’ll propel you to the finish line with the best races, shows, expos and more going down this month.

Grand National Roadster Show

Did you know winter is the best time to check out classic car events? The cozy nature of short days in the off-season brings you that much closer to the art of restoring and modifying yesterday’s finest machines. The Grand National Roadster Show is a prime place to get a piece of that magic. It brings together the finest classic roadster builds you’ve ever seen in Pomona, California. There’ll be countless classics, vendors, and good people stopping in this February 2-4.

World of Wheels / Autorama

Need more classic car and rod shows to hold you over this month? Good news for you, the folks behind the World of Wheels and Autorama car shows are dishing out a threefer to keep you more than busy. The first stop is Kansas City February 2-4, where you can check out a special tribute to Evel Knievel and five generations of Batmobiles. If southern customs are more your speed, the Autorama hits the Dallas Market Hall in Texas, February 16-18. Finally, the series returns to the Midwest for Milwaukee’s largest indoor custom car show February 23-25. Don’t complain about having nothing to do.

24 Hours of Lemons

Hold onto your hats – we’re hitting ’em with the ol’ one-two-threefer. That’s right, we’ve got another triple for you, this time compliments of 24 Hours of Lemons’ endurance hooptie racers.

Watch these low-dollar chariots battle it out February 3-4 at the Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Alambama at the Shine Country Classic 2024 before they take on the month’s rally through the beautiful cities of Sterling, Roanoke, and Virginia Beach. The Virginia is for Clunkers Rally 2024 runs February 9-11 – and it’s not to late to sign up if you’re feeling rowdy. The last throwdown comes February 24-25, when the madmen tackle Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, CA for the Jank of the West 2024 showdown.

DIRTcar Nationals

Speaking of racing, it’s about time to get yourself more than a healthy dose of some high-octane action. That’s what the DIRTcar Nationals is good for. You see, this is more than just a quick weekend dirt race at the local circle track. This is a two-week showdown of nothing but clay-slinging, death-defying driving as racers compete for the title at Volusia Speedway Park. We’re talking about the kind of action you didn’t even know existed going down consistently from February 5-17. Yeah—you’ve gotta check it out.

Sno* Drift Rally

Coming off the heels of Audi VS Lancia, you need a fixin’ of some nutty rally racing. That’s what you’re in for when you step into the Sno* Drift Rally this February 9-10. You’d better believe these drivers are going to push it to the limit (and beyond) as they carve through the trails of Michigan in the dead of winter. So, dress warm, bring some hot cocoa, and pack a spare set of undies because you won’t believe what you’re about to see.

2024 Golden State 250

Since we’re talking about racing on alternative surfaces, we might as well check out what those crazed lunatics at BITD are up to. It turns out the 2024 Golden State 250 is going down February 15-17. This desert war sees everything from motorcycles and ATVs to UTVs and cars thrashing on the sand to prove who deserves the crown. You need some sun in your life, so you might as well get some while the baddest machines on the planet hash it out.

2024 Chicago Auto Show

What’s winter good for if not the auto expos? While shows, in general, are still in a funny place, they’ll always be the best way to get a scoop on what all the biggest names are up to at one event. If you’re doing this to make a living, it’s basically an obligation to stop into at least one this year. You might as well make that one-stop the biggest and longest-running in the country when the Chicago Auto Show fires off February 10-19.

Muddy Valentine – Trucks Gone Wild

Nothing says “I Love You” quite like big, burly trucks at a madhouse of an event, does it? If that’s barking up your tree, you’d better be at the Muddy Valentine Trucks Gone Wild bash February 15-18. All 4x4s are welcome, with everything from mud bogging to shows and much more on the agenda. This is an 18+ only event, so you know it’s the best way to start 2024 on the wild side.

Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion

It’s easy to get lost in the technical jargon and competitive nature of the industry, forgetting all about culture and style. If you need a reminder of the nostalgic flare the world of cars can bring, then you’d best check out the Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion. It’s packed with timeless style, classic music, and the kind of cars you’d expect from self-proclaimed rockabillies. Even if that’s not exactly your taste, it’s hard to deny the positive vibes this show generates, which just may be what you need to offset those winter blues coming February 16-18.

Daytona 500

If it’s the competitive nature that attracts you to car, then this is your month. February marks the return of NASCAR racing, with the Daytona 500 starting the 2024 season. This war on the asphalt is among history’s most iconic racing events, and it’s sure to blast the seasonal depression right out of you. Tickets are already sold out, as this is set to be a real spectacle. Thankfully, the couch is free and you can still tune in on February 18.

2024 Sebring SpeedTour

We’ve got everything from classic cars to hardcore races to look forward to this February. Only one auto event puts them together, though, and that’s the 2024 Sebring SpeedTour. This event puts the best of the best from years past back on the legendary Sebring track for yet another chance to claim glory. Yeah, it’s pretty much perfect, and you need to be there this February 22-25.

17th Annual Boca Concours d’Elegance

The last stop on our list is the most luxurious by far. The 17th Annual Boca Concours d’Elegance will round up some of the finest cars to exist for one of the highest-ranking shows in the country. Here, you’ll find the best examples of every category among a sea of enthusiasts who appreciate the craft automakers bring to the table more than anyone else.
