As for wheels and tires, Osborne advises speaking to a TrailFX dealer to help guide you in the correct and appropriate direction. “Each vehicle is designed with a specific size in mind. Tires specifically, range in size by a number of variations,” he says. “But, in general, most TrailFX lift kits will fit between a 33″ to a 35″ tire in terms of height, with ranges between 11″ to 12.5″ wide. Additionally, the specifics of the wheel and any other modifications of the vehicle should be taken into account as well.”

“If the vehicle needs it to complete proper installation, it’ll be included in the box,” says Osborne. Even select IFS kits will include the control arm for the steering knuckle for proper alignment. Having such a comprehensive package is a major advantage to installers, especially those who may still be a little wet behind the ears.

“When you change the suspension height, the geometry angles change,” Osborne reminds us. “Improper installation can lead to uneven tire wear or worse, driveline failure.”

That’s not to scare off newbies, though. Osborne assures us that all TrailFX suspension kits are designed to be quick and simple to install.

“A lot of DIY installers may not have a hydraulic lift, impact, or every specific tool imaginable,” he says. “But that doesn’t mean the job can’t be completed—it just might take a little longer. Most leveling kits install in under 2-3 hours, while Mid Lifts can take up to 4-5 hours or a little longer. You can still do the job with all the right wrenches, sockets, properly-rated jack stands and additional tools, without the fancy stuff many installers use.”
