Get a Boost With TrailFX Lift Kits

As the already-long list of available truck and SUV models continues to grow, it can sometimes feel like the world’s dullest parade is rolling by.

Oh look! Another swoopy contour.

Ah, yes, more over-sized grilles.

Is that a ‘gunmetal gray’ finish? How… stoic.

Thankfully, the aftermarket offers a laundry list of mods and accessories to help you stand out in a crowd.

Lift kits are a particularly popular option, since they (literally) boost a vehicle’s ride height and, by extension, its style and capability. In addition to creating space for larger wheels and tires, lift kits also increase your ability to see and conquer obstacles on the trail. Better yet, they do this while maintaining that smooth, factory ride and adding a little aggressiveness to your vehicle’s stance.

There are countless aftermarket companies you can turn to for your suspension needs, and they range from mild to wild, highway-mannered to angry dune-bashing, questionably cheap to outrageously expensive. Much like politics, it can be tough to spot the moderates.

So, if you’re looking for a kit that provides a decent bit of lift, with quality parts that won’t break your budget (or your patience during installation), it might be time to check out TrailFX.

TrailFX initially launched with leveling kits several years ago and then, realizing the benefits of developing more comprehensive kits with additional height and performance features, added lift kits in 2018.

The sheer variety of wheel and tire combinations on the market practically demanded the additional product line, says Ryan Osborne, TrailFX Product Manager. “It was a logical next step and so far, folks have been happy with the value they receive in a TFX kit.”

Why TrailFX?

You know why TrailFX got into lift kits, but why should you consider TrailFX?

Durability Built Upon Material, Fit, & Finish

“TrailFX lift kits include all the parts needed to get the job done and are made with quality-grade materials to last the duration of many adventures,” says Osborne. “With this peace of mind, you feel confident to tackle the trail and control your movement while maintaining an everyday factory ride.”

That means, whether you drive a pavement princess or dirt-road adventurer, TrailFX kits will get you there (and home again).

TrailFX lift kits add style and performance chops to your ride, as well as enhancing off-road adventures.

Since each consumer has different wants and needs when it comes to shocks, most TrailFX lift kits do not require shock replacement. (Though Osborne still recommends the upgrade if you’re looking for a complementary mod that will really make a difference to ride quality.)

Ultimately though, a TFX lift kit allows you to utilize the factory-equipped shocks or decide on a specialty brand, depending on your adventure or style, he says. “For those who are budget-minded or don’t want unnecessary parts lying around, TrailFX fits the build for any situation.”

As for wheels and tires, Osborne advises speaking to a TrailFX dealer to help guide you in the correct and appropriate direction. “Each vehicle is designed with a specific size in mind. Tires specifically, range in size by a number of variations,” he says. “But, in general, most TrailFX lift kits will fit between a 33″ to a 35″ tire in terms of height, with ranges between 11″ to 12.5″ wide. Additionally, the specifics of the wheel and any other modifications of the vehicle should be taken into account as well.”

Competitive Warranty

Another selling point of a TrailFX lift kit is the 5 year/60,000-mile X-GUARD Plus Powertrain Warranty. This policy covers all major powertrain parts, so customers can rest assured that their vehicle is covered in the event of a failure related to suspension modifications.

“At TrailFX, we are confident with the quality of our product and would like our customers to have the same peace of mind,” says Osborne. But as new vehicle prices continue to approach record highs, “newer model truck owners upfitting their rigs must have assurance that the products they’re installing are built and backed with quality in mind,” he adds.

Remember: General care and maintenance is still necessary to keep that investment secure. Proper alignment, tire and wheel fitment, as well just general upkeep to the kit and vehicle will ensure you have your TrailFX equipment for years to come.

Easy Installation

As mentioned, all the parts you need to install a TrailFX lift kit come in the box. And that includes if you need a shock extension or track bar bracket.

“If the vehicle needs it to complete proper installation, it’ll be included in the box,” says Osborne. Even select IFS kits will include the control arm for the steering knuckle for proper alignment. Having such a comprehensive package is a major advantage to installers, especially those who may still be a little wet behind the ears.

“When you change the suspension height, the geometry angles change,” Osborne reminds us. “Improper installation can lead to uneven tire wear or worse, driveline failure.”

That’s not to scare off newbies, though. Osborne assures us that all TrailFX suspension kits are designed to be quick and simple to install.

“A lot of DIY installers may not have a hydraulic lift, impact, or every specific tool imaginable,” he says. “But that doesn’t mean the job can’t be completed—it just might take a little longer. Most leveling kits install in under 2-3 hours, while Mid Lifts can take up to 4-5 hours or a little longer. You can still do the job with all the right wrenches, sockets, properly-rated jack stands and additional tools, without the fancy stuff many installers use.”

Range of Applications

Currently, TrailFX lift kits are available for full-size GM, Ford, RAM, Jeep, and Toyota trucks, as well as some HD models. However, Osborne tells us that there are plans for expansion as new opportunities arise.
