Pypes Exhaust: Don’t Get Out-Performed

Peanut butter and jelly, beer and hot wings, muscle cars and V-8s: some things in this world simply belong together. Ever since the early days of hot rods, the bond between man and machine has been defined by the soundtrack of an American pushrod V-8 engine.

Pypes Performance is well-known for its extensive catalog of performance exhaust components spanning classic and late-model muscle cars. More recently, this enthusiast-driven brand is gaining a reputation for trucks and SUVs, too. Whether you’re looking to improve the sound of your track warrior or off-roading machine, Dr. Horsepower has the perfect product for you.

“We Sweat the Details”

Pypes Performance Exhaust made its name offering highly efficient mandrel-bent stainless steel exhaust systems at a much lower price than the competition.

Mandrel-bent exhaust pipes offer better flow than the OEM compression-bent pipes, and being made of stainless steel means they’ll last longer than the factory system.

Additionally, most Pypes systems feature a custom designed X-pipe for better balance and sound, and all systems come complete with everything needed for a simple installation. Throw in a limited lifetime warranty, and it’s easy to see how Pypes products attracted such a vast customer base.

What we love though?

Pypes focuses on giving customers the power of choice. You can choose from all of the brand’s distinct mufflers, finding the one that best meets your sound or power requirements. Moreover, the fine folks at Pypes won’t force you to buy one particular type of technology, rather encouraging you to decide what suits your application or driving style. And above all, the company stands behind its products and customers, from search through install and thereafter.

Selection of distinct mufflers from Pypes Performance Exhaust

With so many cool offerings, where does one even start? Newest to the Pypes family is the Turbo Pro Muffler, listed above. The flow progression of this muffler mimics the CFM of a straight pipe without the annoying drone or resonance, giving your ride a quiet mellow tone with a true performance sound. Crafted of 409 stainless steel, the Turbo Pro is designed to withstand the output of today’s big motors and comes with Pypes’ famous lifetime warranty.

Now that you know the why, let’s dive into the what – because Pypes has some exciting new products on the docket.

“X Marks the Spot”

Exhaust gasses don’t flow out of the tailpipe as a steady continuous exhale. There are pulses which come from each cylinder, pushing the gasses out of the combustion chamber. In a standard V-shaped engine, these pulses must be allowed to merge with one another at a crossover point in order to maximize flow, reduce back pressure, and make more power.

This is commonly done with an H-pipe or X-pipe.

Each of these two pipes will offer a different sound, but both will add a louder, crisper, race car-like growl to your exhaust system.

The experts at Pypes have perfected the H-pipe and X-pipe over the years – and they’re happy to let you know it. Most recently, the company added two more shining examples of each style to its catalog for the 05-10 Ford Mustang. If the H-pipe meets your desired sound and power requirements, then you’ll want to look at HFM55E or HFM26E. If the X-pipe is more your speed, then check out XHFM55E or XHFM26E.

Sky High Ground Clearance

For those of you with an 07-18 JK Wrangler 4-door, Pypes now offers a high-ground clearance cat back exhaust system with Street Pro Muffler or Race Muffler.

Both systems are designed to tuck underneath the vehicle next to the frame rails for maximum clearance when off-roading. In fact, Pypes claims that these systems offer the highest ground clearance of any aftermarket exhaust system.

Pypes hasn’t forgotten about all of you JL owners out there, either. The JL Stubby Catback systems also feature the Street Pro Muffler, delivering a mild tone for the daily driver that still wants to take it off-road. Those seeking something a little wilder, should reach for the Race Muffler, which spits out an aggressive growl worthy of the desolate trails your JL plans to conquer.

More importantly, these Stubby systems are not only designed to fit your JL, but also accommodate the use of aftermarket long arm suspension kits and beefed-up panard bars. Mods that would normally make contact with (read: slam into) a conventional tail pipe system.

Classic and Modern Muscle

What can we say? We love V-8 muscle cars regardless of whether they’re classic or modern. Pypes has a strong market share in this category, boasting new cat back systems for the 10-14 Chevy Camaro, 11-14 Dodge Charger, and 15-20 Dodge Challenger.

The new 2.5” 409 stainless steel downpipe set for the 1955-57 Chevy allows you to connect your aftermarket exhaust to the stock 2” manifolds. This option gives you tremendous bang-for-your-buck, all while still being covered by the company’s outstanding lifetime warranty.

Keep On Truckin’

Last, but certainly not least, let’s look at some of the exciting new pickup truck systems Pypes has released. 1963-66 GM truck owners now have their pick of several systems, ranging from MILD to WILD.

I can’t think of anything cooler than side exit tail pipes on a truck, can you?

Pypes also added offerings for 1965-74 Ford Pickups, 1975-76 Ford Pickups, and many, many more. (Truly, the list seems to go on forever!)

With a stellar product line and quality customer support, you can’t go wrong with Pypes. Browse the company’s website and social channels, and we encourage you to check out its comprehensive library of installation instructions.
