SpeedFX Pre-Winter Projects Keep You Motivated

Let’s face it: winter projects are basically what keep you from going insane during the cold season (especially if you spent the last few months just getting your classic car or truck running). And while you may be genetically geared toward massive upgrades, the budget may be short with the holidays approaching, putting you in an awkward spot.

Well, today, let’s take a look under the hood to see what kind of quick projects you can drum up—and how SpeedFX can help you get them done.

Finishing Touches

It’s more than a little backwards to start a conversation on small repairs by looking to the finishing touches first. But, really, it’s a good way to get the ball rolling—because whenever you’re bored, you can always probe around your engine bay to find something that just isn’t as perfect as you would like it to be.

For example, if you’re anything like me, you likely reused some parts to get your hot rod up and running. And, at the time, you weren’t too worried about making the engine look spiffy. Maybe you’re looking to add some chrome or maybe you’ve got an old scratched and dinged up air cleaner. Perhaps you’re looking at a black set of pulleys that just don’t quite fit in.

Whatever the case, SpeedFX offers a long list of engine accessories. From valve covers and air cleaner covers to radiator overflow tanks, cooling fan shrouds, and hoses—it’s all on the table at an affordable price.

Setting yourself up with the right chrome will surely get your through a weekend’s time—without breaking the bank, no less—keeping you that much further from going off the edge.

One Thing Leads to Another

Though, like I said, this is just meant to get the ball rolling. As you make updates like these, you’re bound to come across some other decently-sized projects along the way.

For example, replacing your valve covers with a new chrome set will pretty much force your hand to throw some new valve cover gaskets on too. (And, if you’re willing to do so, perhaps consider crawling under the car and looking for other potential gasket jobs.)

Additionally, small oil leaks probably weren’t a big concern over the warmer months. But now that you have the time to deal with them, you might as well do so. Typical gaskets to look at are your water pump gasket and oil pan gasket. Again, they won’t demand much more time than a weekend’s worth, but—hey—there’s at least two weekends without going stir crazy!

Performance Tweaks

Maybe you like the car just the way it is and don’t exactly want to invest in altering it much. However, preserving that power is still of utmost importance. Of course, by sealing up small leaks you’re already doing this, but there are perishable components used in the engine bay that are required to keep the engine running—period.

Just Breathe

The thing that most likely will need to be replaced is your air filter. If you put a lot of miles on that ride over the spring and summer, it’s likely so filled with debris that it needs replacing. Luckily, SpeedFX has you covered, as the brand offers a variety of air cleaners, air filters, and accessories.

For classic engines, SpeedFX has washable filters in a few different sizes, but the brand also serves modern engines with both conical and cylindrical filters—so you can nab one for your winter Toyota while you’re at it.

Loving Spark

Another area SpeedFX can serve you in is the ignition. With several distributor options for Ford, Chevy, and Dodge applications, including HEI conversions, you can ensure your car is in tip-top running condition. Plus, it’ll tidy up that bay quite a bit by placing the coil right on top of the distributor.

The spark plug wires sold by SpeedFX are very solid offerings as well. Up front, you should now that these are not preassembled units—which is perfect, as buyers can choose the appropriate length for their engines and cut them in the necessary configuration for a truly tailored and tidy under-hood appearance.

These are spiral-wound Kevlar core wires with an 8.5mm diameter. With the high-density silicon jacket and resistance of 500 ohms per foot, paired up with the existing characteristics, you are sure to get super durable and high-performing wires for your ride.

Plumbing

One last area SpeedFX can help you with during your pre-winter repairs is the fuel system. If it’s time to replace worn-out fuel lines and fittings, the brand offers a line of AN fittings, fuel lines, and even the necessary tools to work with these units.

At the very least, by adding a set of fresh fuel lines and fittings to your engine, you’re going to really dress things up. Plus, while you’re going through and making these changes you can prepare yourself to give the carburetor a good cleaning. (Although we recommend ultimately putting that task off until the warm weather begins to come back around.)

While these small projects likely won’t keep the freezing cold season from driving you crazy, they can at least help soften the blow of Old Man Winter.
